PHILLIP GREENLIEF SOLO
i've been playing solo since 1979, and this process has evolved in tandem with my conception of music and what is possible in terms of saxophone performance.
in the early 2000's, i began to travel in the american southwest - southeastern california, arizona, new mexico, southwestern colorado, utah, southern and central nevada - exploring landscapes and playing my saxophone, sometimes in traditional concert settings, sometimes in
national parks, sometimes in the middle of nowhere without an audience.
this process has inspired and informed my solo work in a deeply personal way; it has taken years and has always been a money-losing endeavor, as there was never a plan
to capitalize on it in any way. i have always considered it an investment in my playing, and i'm eternally indebted to the people and places of the southwest that have inspired my work in such a fundamental way.
i play solo concerts on most of my tours and would be happy to play at your venue, college or university, concert hall or house concert.
